Research Interests

Work in our laboratory is directed toward elucidating molecular mechanisms involved in the control of embryonic cell migration. We study the migration of both malignant (embryonal carcinoma) and nonmalignant (ES) cells in response to an as yet uncharacterized form of renin. We are proceeding to isolate and and characterize the specific form of renin which stimulates migration. We then plan to characterize the receptor for this stimulatory factor, determine the relationship of that receptor to embryonic development and identify other ligands that interact with the receptor during development.
